Integrative bodywork

NeuroAffective Touch ・ Craniosacral Therapy・ relational movement

Sometimes words aren’t enough.

Our bodies carry the stories of our lifetimes, and the lifetimes of our ancestors. We are often familiar with the stories our minds hold about who we are, but less so with the stories held in our bodies — stories that are not told through words alone, but also through emotion, movement, and sensation.

My approach to bodywork is strongly informed by polyvagal theory, and based on a foundation of consent, trust, and safety. Bodywork is designed to support and build resilience in the biological systems that are most impacted by developmental trauma, and to integrate these changes by supporting the brain structures that are associated with memories and emotions.

Integrative bodywork is a nervous system informed approach that uses intentional mindful touch, attention, movement, sound, and words to bring unconscious memories held in the body into conscious awareness. Working directly with the body, this approach helps to establish a new somatic foundation from which to rework unconscious trauma responses and patterns, and to rebuild our relationships with ourselves, our communities, and the natural world.

Integrative bodywork

attachment-oriented bodywork to support greater presence, nervous system regulation, and relational healing.

  • Bodywork is used primarily to support co-regulation and the unwinding of traumatic stress held in the body’s physiology. It can also be used to explore interpersonal processing and attachment, as well as self-regulation, safe touch, healthy boundaries, as well as work through early pre- verbal trauma and shock trauma.

I integrate multiple modalities in my approach to bodywork drawn from generative somatics, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Focusing, BodyMind Centering, and NeuroAffective Touch.

While talking can be a part of bodywork, my role is as active listener supporting body-mind integration. I am not a psychotherapist and this treatment is not a substitute for psychotherapy.

Bodywork is done fully clothed, and is not used to manipulate, rehabilitate or repair the body as done in manual therapies such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, or massage (although it can be a helpful compliment to these approaches).

I am a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association. I meet the high Standards of Practice and respectfully uphold the Code of Ethics. For more information visit www.ISMETA.org

  • I offer bodywork in-person with or without the Safe + Sound Protocol.

Each session begins with checking in about any changes you’ve noticed, addressing any concerns, and clarifying intentions.

I work collaboratively with clients to find the approaches, strategies, and pace that work best for each unique nervous system.

This may include a brief SSP listening session with headphones for 5-10 minutes or beginning with simply asking how your body is that day, pausing to notice emotional and somatic responses, and then using bodywork and movement practices to resource the nervous system, support release of incomplete survival responses held in the body, and facilitate new experiences of connection and safety that slowly help re-pattern neuro-somatic responses over time.

Injustice doesn’t leave the body until it has been witnessed.
