community guidelines + agreements
Thank you for taking the time to read the following guidelines and agreements for this community. These agreements help to create a container that supports curiosity, growth, and bravery in our learning together.
These guidelines were written and developed by Marika Heinrichs, with inspiration from Lindsay Mack, Samia Abou-Samra and Ije Ude, and feedback/ support from Hannah Taylor-Johnson. Your participation in wildbody courses and workshops indicates you have read and consented to these boundaries and guidelines.

Self-Guided Learning
wildbody offerings are designed to be personal journeys. While these journeys happen within a group of other learners, and with a facilitator(s), you are embarking on a path of connection with yourself that is ultimately yours alone. Groups and courses are personal experiences that support you to explore, deepen and enrich your relationship with your body, develop new skills, and learn about yourself in new ways. Offerings are designed to be a supportive space to connect with your own knowing, ask questions of yourself, and draw on your inner wisdom and resources beyond this space to make the learning work for you. We are honoured to be your guides on this journey – but the path you take through this material (and how you take it) is all your own.
Informed Consent
The content of wildbody courses and memberships is for informational purposes only and is not meant to be a substitute for psychotherapy or other types of professional individualized support. By purchasing participation in these programs, you accept, agree, and understand that you are fully responsible for your progress and results from your participation and that I (Marika) offer no representations, warranties or guarantees verbally or in writing regarding your results of any kind. You alone are responsible for your actions and results.
Participation does not establish a therapeutic relationship between us. I am not able to provide you with individualized therapeutic advice or crisis support. If you are in need of additional support, please seek out resources in your area and be self-responsive in caring for yourself in this space.
Expectations for Participants
Responsibility to Self and Material You are a sovereign being with choices and agency. Participants are expected to be able to hold themselves in this work, to stay rooted in their own experience, to be responsible for their reactions, and to show up as a member of a learning community. If you are unable to do these things, or are in a period of your life where this doesn’t feel possible, it may not be the right time to join us.
Responsibility to Self Tending and Care Connecting to our bodies is powerful and can bring up strong emotions and physical responses. This is not a therapy space and I am not able to provide therapeutic or crisis support to participants. Practices are designed to be trauma-informed and educational. This means I am intentional about how deeply practices take us into an experience, and keep things at a level that is appropriate for a group learning environment. You are encouraged to seek out additional supports, including individual therapy. Offerings are not designed as therapeutic processing spaces, but healing still happens.
You are Your Own Best Teacher Your body is your best teacher, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to somatics. We are here to learn how to listen to our own bodily wisdom. Take what works for you and leave what doesn’t. Check what I teach against your own truths and go with what you sense is the right path on the journey for you – just like you would with any other space holder, guide, or teacher.
Flexibility in Material Due to the embodied nature of this space, curriculum and outlines are subject to change. We practice what we preach, which means being responsive to what is arising and needs tending as it emerges, rather than forcing ourselves into a pre-determined agenda. I strive for a balance of structure and responsiveness to emerging needs in my courses and groups.
Culture of Care + Solidarity This space recognizes the impacts and intersectional nature of systemic oppression including racism, homophobia, transphobia and transmisogyny, ableism, classism, cis-hetero-patriarchy, anti-semitism, and all harmful structures that are upheld by white supremacy culture. We are explicitly LGBTTQ2S+ affirming, pro-sex worker, anti-racist, neurodivergence-aware, and approach each member of this community with a spirit of dignity and mutual humanity. We believe that dismantling systems of oppression is important work that benefits everyone; we all live at intersections, we all benefit and are harmed by oppression in different ways and to different degrees. Members whose experiences and identities are often marginalized within the dominant culture are invited to move forward and take up more space, and those whose identities are more often represented and validated are invited to pause and listen as well as share from their learning. We all have things to contribute and learn from each other, this isn’t about self-censoring, it’s about practicing ways of relating that allow all of us to be here in our full humanity.
Embracing Discomfort Please recognize that the norms and values of the dominant culture are not always the norms of this space. At times this might feel strange or uncomfortable and you may not understand everything right away. Developing skills to sit with that is part of the work of being here. It will take us some time to feel things out and get comfortable – that’s okay. Please give it time and get to know the culture of this space, stay curious in your reactions, and be self-responsive in taking time to pause, resource, and check in with yourself as things arise. Determining what is happening at any given moment is a part of cultivating personal responsibility and somatic awareness, and you’re encouraged to stay curious in your discomfort rather than rushing to escape when it arises.
We welcome feedback and will provide opportunities for you to share and reflect on your experience.
Conflict Protocol While this is primarily a space for embodied practice - issues may come up from time to time that require addressing. If issues or concerns arise for you around any of the values or norms of this space not being respected, we ask that you first take 48 hours to check in with yourself and a trusted person, and to pause and notice what might be coming up for you. If it isn’t something that you can resolve on your own, you can reach out to us via email with your concerns. wildbody cannot address interpersonal concerns between participants, we will only respond to concerns related to the content in groups as they relate to these group agreements.
Please remember if/when such situations arise: we are all at different points in our learning and most of us are really trying our best. We will not replicate cultures of disposability or purity in our values and practices here. We are all messy humans trying to learn, grow, and find belonging.
If a group member breaks or violates community agreements, someone will reach out to let them know and remind them of this document. If the issue continues, we reserve the right to ask a member to leave or remove them from the group.
We are all here because we want and choose to be here. Let’s embody the worlds we dream of and long for together, and practice deep care and rigour with ourselves and each other.
